Hospice of the Chesapeake is excited to announce the selection of Monica Escalante for the newly created position of Chief Strategy & Information Officer. Escalante will join the executive leadership team in mid-August. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Hospice based in Salisbury, Maryland, and has 20 plus years of experience in hospice and palliative care in Maryland.

“I’m honored to join the leadership team at Hospice of the Chesapeake as Chief Strategy & Information Officer with a focus on expanding access to those who need care as well as seeking innovative and creative solutions that will best prepare us for the future,” Escalante said.

Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Miller said Escalante is a perfect fit for the vision of the organization, which serves Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, and Prince George’s counties. “As Maryland’s largest independent not-for-profit hospice organization, we take our role of providing expert, compassionate care to all who need it very seriously. Monica’s expertise and experience will allow us to further achieve our mission of bringing hope and healing to those experiencing advanced, serious illness,” Miller said.

Also announced today, Brian Berger, currently Vice President of Care Continuum at Hospice of the Chesapeake, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer as of June 1. Berger, a licensed clinical and certified advanced palliative and hospice social worker, brings a unique understanding of hospice, palliative and grief care after more than 20 years in the industry at multiple organizations across the country. Additionally, Sandra Dillon has been promoted to Vice President of Strategic Communications & Advocacy. Dillon has been with the organization since February 2010 and has more than 30 years of experience in strategic communications, digital and print marketing, public relations, advertising, and advocacy.

“These additions to our executive team at Hospice of the Chesapeake bring with them vast experience, unparalleled expertise, and a contagious passion for the care we provide,” Miller said.
