Hospice of the Chesapeake is honored to share that Vice President of Care Continuum Brian Berger is a Leading Age Maryland’s 2023 Provider Member Innovation Award honoree.
Leading Age Maryland is a community of not-for-profit providers and collaborators united to shape the future of aging in Maryland through advocacy, education, innovation, and collaboration. Each year the organization recognizes outstanding members with five different awards.
Berger was the sole recipient of the Excellence in Innovation Award. In describing the award, Leading Age Maryland wrote, “This award recognizes programs or services from a community or organization which go above and beyond normal operations and enhance the field of aging services. This includes programs, services, or initiatives that demonstrate unusual creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to overcome challenges, improving a process, program, or the entire organization.”
Berger was recognized for co-leading the successful implementation of a new electronic medical record for the full organization while simultaneously launching a new initiative focused on timely admissions. Through a focus on excellence in innovation, Berger and his teams were able to simultaneously launch two major technology initiatives in the same six-month period.
“The team here at Hospice of the Chesapeake are not at all surprised that Brian has been presented with this innovation award,” President and CEO Becky Miller said, paying particular attention to the award description. “Brian is known for a special mix of creativity, collaboration, and organizational savvy when it comes to ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking to overcome challenges. We are extremely proud of all of his achievements that ultimately enhance our ability to create meaningful experiences for patients and their families.”
