After a remarkable fall day spent on the Queenstown Harbor Golf Course, more than 200 golfers and a long list of community sponsors participated in the Hospice of the Chesapeake’s 15th annual Golf Tournament. Together they helped raise around $138,000 for the nonprofit that serves Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties, $13,000 more than last year and the most in its history.
The perks that teams enjoy before, during and after playing 18 holes have helped to turn this into a sell-out event. Team members enjoyed goodie bags brimming with gifts including Under Armor jackets. The hospitality provided included an omelet bar in the morning, oysters and shrimp with grilled lunch at the turn and an awards banquet to cap off the day.
“Every year I wonder how the Golf Committee can actually improve on the previous year’s event, and every year, I am amazed,” Christine Wilson, Director of Advancement said. “But it’s not all about the swag. All of the extras are just their way of making sure that we have the most successful event possible so that we can raise money to aid us in our mission of caring for life at the end-of-life.”
The winning team on the Lakes course was the foursome made up of Con Errico, Lee Holt, Steve Krupnick and Josh Brown. The foursome that won the Rivers course was Austin Groves, Matt Kelly, Gustavo Atango and Mark Gibbons.
The presenting sponsor was First National Bank and All Green Management, Inc., with co-sponsors Carpet and Wood Floor Liquidators and Greenberg Gibbons Commercial.
The 16th annual Golf Tournament will take place Oct. 4, 2018, at Queenstown Harbor.
